What sets Hanskin formulas apart
Three acids, three skin types
The cleansing line is split by acid. Gluconolactone (PHA) versions are labelled for sensitive skin, betaine salicylate (BHA) for oily and combination complexions, and alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) for dry, dull-looking faces. The same split repeats across the large oils, the solid balms and the travel minis, so once one formula suits you, the other formats follow the same logic.
Balm-to-oil-to-milk textures
Each solid balm starts firm, melts into a silky oil against warm fingertips, then turns milky as soon as water is added. That last change is what lets the dissolved makeup rinse off rather than sit on the face as a film. The pump oils go through the same emulsifying step, turning white and milky under the tap.

Ingredients and how to store the formulas
Plant oils carry the first cleanse. Jojoba and sunflower oils appear in every balm, the large PHA bottle adds soybean oil, and the gel cleansing oil uses tea tree, jojoba, olive and grape seed oils with aloe vera extract. The BHA oil is the aromatic one, with rosemary leaf, orange peel and lavender oils in the blend.
Many formulas leave out parabens, silicones, alcohol and dyes, and the Hyaluron Skin Essence is fragrance-free as well. Several cleansing sets and the gel oil are cruelty-free, and the 7 Layer Ceramide cream and serum come in uncoated paper packaging printed with soybean oil ink.
